Regardless of the L (the lesson, not loss) there's one thing that's for certain... Love is not canceled!!!

I know when that hotline bling it can only mean one thing... It's a journalist! Lol. Just playing, but they really do make our hotline bling, and so often :P Typically seeking comment on current wedding trends from Auckland Wedding Planner, Wedding She Wrote and asking how we are navigating this unprecedented space with our clientele? Love is the answer!

Overall, they're usually asking how engaged couples are feeling about what's happening to them? Especially when New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern makes an announcement or changes something (I had to stop watching the news! It was, terribly draining.)

The overview: It sucks. Big time. BUT there are some Positives too!!! There's a silver lining to everything, right? Sometimes you just have to dig deeper in times like this! People are still getting married. In different and creative, definitely cheaper ways we hadn't thought of since before they put the social in "distancing"... It's still different strokes for different folks! It works and it can be beautiful, yet, we do miss our larger scale events, and a different style of challenge rather than trying to keep a distance 🥴 filling atmospheres with so much more energy and joy. At the end of the day, it's about family! Bring back social, without the distancing! Nevertheless, *sigh* I believe we will all look back at this reset and be grateful for this crazy experience together. Let's think positive!

TREND #1: EVERY BODY POSTPONED THEIR WEDDING AT LEAST ONCE, TWICE OR THRICE SINCE MARCH 2020! LOL. THE LUCKY ONES STILL GOT TO USE & KEEP THEIR DEPOSITS BY POSTPONING AND NOT CANCELING!!! (WELL, THAT'S ONE GOOD THING!)

TREND #2: WHEN BEING ORGANISED BACKFIRES, COUPLES HAVE HAD TO TAKE THE L ON NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSITS, AND CANCELATION FEES BECAUSE OF COVID-19 AND ALERT LEVEL RESTRICTIONS.

TREND #3: WEDDINGS HAVE BECOME A LOT SMALLER & EXTRA INTIMATE BECAUSE OF ALERT LEVEL RESTRICTIONS. NO LONGER ARE COUPLES PLANNING BIG, EXTRAVAGANT WEDDING RECEPTIONS, INSTEAD THEY'RE APART OF ELOPEMENT STYLE WEDDING CEREMONIES WITH LITTLE TO NO GUESTS! WHAT'S MORE, THERE'S SOMETIMES LEFT OVER BUDGET TO SPEND ON OTHER THINGS! WHO WOULD'VE THOUGHT?!

TREND #4: OUTDOOR WEDDING CEREMONIES THAT HAVE HAD THE PLEASURE OF GOING AHEAD AS PLANNED (USUALLY, AN EVENT WITH 10 PEOPLE OR LESS) HAVE HAD SOME SURPRISE GUESTS "ATTEND" AT A DISTANCE, WEARING ACTIVEWEAR INSTEAD OF THEIR #1'S!!! 😂 WHAT IN THE CAMOUFLAGE?! LOL.

TREND #5: CATER TO FRIENDS AND FAMILY, NEAR OR FAR, WITH A LIVESTREAM WEDDING VIDEO! ENABLING YOUR LOVED ONES TO BE THERE WITH YOU IN YOUR SPECIAL MOMENT. THANK YOU TECHNOLOGY!!! FAMILY AND FRIENDS CAN WATCH YOUR NUPTIALS FROM ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD, OR AS KIWI INGENUITY WOULD HAVE IT, VIRTUAL WEDDING GUESTS CAN PULL UP TO YOUR WEDDING LOCATION, DRIVE-THRU STYLE, AND WATCH SIMULTANEOUSLY IN-PERSON AND VIA LIVESTREAM VIDEO IN THEIR VEHICLE! TOOTING THEIR CAR HORNS AT THE END OF THE CEREMONY IN CELEBRATION OF THE NEWLY-WEDS!!! THIS IS SUCH A FUN TREND!!! WE HOPE TO SEE MORE OF IT IF COVID LINGERS LONGER THAN WE HOPE :)

TREND #6: TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES ARE AT AN ALL TIME HIGH DUE TO D.I.Y (DO-IT-YOURSELF) LIVESTREAM WEDDING VIDEOS IN BEAUTIFUL REMOTE OUTDOOR LOCATIONS, WITH POOR CONNECTIVITY. AS A HUMAN COLLECTIVE, IF WE HAVE LEARNED ANYTHING HERE, IT'S THAT YOU REALLY NEED A SOUNDCHECK AND TO TEST YOUR LIVESTREAM LINK IN THE SPACE YOU WILL BE FILMING BEFORE IT'S GO TIME!!! AND ALSO IF YOU ARE BEHIND THE CAMERA, DON'T SNIFF! HAHA. THE LIVE CAN HEAR YOU'RE SNIFFLES, EVEN THOUGH YOU CAN'T 🥴🤣 ALSO, PACK A PORTABLE PHONE CHARGER, BECAUSE YOUR PHONE WILL DIE. TRUST. LOL.

TREND #7: WHEN LIFE GIVES YOU LEMONS, YOU MAKE: LEMONADE. JUST GOTTA MAKE DO, PEEPS!
